World Missionary Evangelism is a powerful and far-reaching non-profit ministry that works to saves lives and souls in places as far away as Sri Lanka, Malawi, Ukraine, the Philippines to right here in the United States.  They and their partners and supporters sponsor children with food, schools and homes, provide disaster relief, provide assistance in farm projects and vocational training and wells and water projects.  And most importantly, in their work, they bring the message and hope of the Gospel and Jesus Christ to the lives of everyone they touch.

On this episode of The Life Changing Weekend, we're joined by one of the four pioneering researchers responsible for developing CAR T-cell therapy, Dr. Michel Sadelain, M.D., Ph.D. Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy reprograms a patient’s own immune system to attack cancer and has become a recognized milestone in modern medicine. The therapy is credited with helping patients facing blood cancers, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and acute Leukemia that were once considered incurable and is now being explored in other serious diseases.

Plus, about 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. While the disease is most often diagnosed in women over the age of 50, more women under 45 are confronting breast cancer, at a time when they may be focused on their careers, relationships or family building. To talk with us about this, we’re joined by surgical oncologist Mediget Teshome, MD, MPH, FACS.

The Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects and delivers shoebox gifts filled with fun toys, school supplies and personal care items. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.  Today on The Life Changing Weekend, we’ll speak with Pastor Zac Vaketambewey, an actual recipient of an Operation Christmas Child shoebox gift and hear – FIRSTHAND – how these simple gifts can change lives!

A recent new survey from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine shows many women are unaware of key risk factors for breast cancer. The group promotes a four-pronged approach endorsed by the American Medical Association: eat a whole food, plant-based diet, exercise regularly, limit alcohol and maintain a healthy weight, along with regular screenings and appropriate medical care.

This strategy is at the heart of the Let’s Beat Breast Cancer campaign, with rallies across the country - including this month in DC and Maryland – with health care professionals and survivors sharing stories, fitness classes, healthy food and prevention tips and more.

America is facing numerous crises in its healthcare system: the primary care shortage, a changing nursing workforce, threats to healthcare professionals and the general public’s diminishing trust in healthcare professionals. Today on the Life Changing Weekend, we’re joined by two guests to discuss these growing challenges.

But first, leading the charge to meet the primary care shortage challenge are Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (COMS).  Osteopathic doctors, or DOs, are trained to look beyond symptoms to understand how lifestyle and environmental factors impact well-being.  These doctors wants to address these issues and bring back a holistic approach to healthcare.  To offer perspectives and solutions to these issues, our first guest is Dr. Robert Cain, President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine.

Major challenges face the U.S. nursing workforce, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) has released the most comprehensive nursing workforce data available today. This new research—gathered from a national survey of 800,000 nurses—offers critical insight into how the profession is faring since the COVID-19 pandemic and what challenges remain. To talk about the survey findings, we’re joined by Brendan Martin, Research Director at the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

A cancer awareness episode on this week's Life Changing Weekend.  First up, Jody Hoyos, CEO of the Prevent Cancer Foundation, discusses the foundation’s 2025 Early Detection Survey, showing that just 51% of U.S. adults 21 years of age and older say that they have had a routine medical appointment or routine cancer screening in the last year. This is a 10-percentage point drop from the 2024 survey.

Next, we're joined by 10-year-old juvenile cancer survivor Jackson Trinh discusses his cancer journey.
