Soldier and Woman Share a Hug, and the Reason Why Will Bring You To Tears

A soldier and a woman shared a hug, and the reason why will bring you to tears. Their warm and loving embrace happened between two people who did not know one another. Watch the short but heartwarming clip to see the touching and powerful moment.

The world is often a sad, lonely and frightening place. People have the surprising ability to inflict incredible amounts of needless pain and suffering upon one another. The evidence for this can be seen all around us – on social media, in the workplace, in the news, in our neighborhoods, and, sadly, at times, even in our own homes.

There is too much hatred and division in this world, and entirely too little kindness, empathy and compassion. How difficult is it to be kind to someone? It usually doesn’t take much time, and the monetary cost is typically nonexistent. Who knows, a simple, what we might call meaningless, act of kindness, could be the thing that changes and brightens someone’s day, week or life. We never know the difference our actions will make until we try.

A clip posted on social media captures the aftermath immediately following an Army graduation ceremony. The video’s description states that the soldiers have just graduated from basic training and are celebrating their accomplishment with their family and friends.

However, the clip begins with a woman and a soldier hugging. The woman, a mother-in-law, spotted a soldier who had no family or friends in attendance to witness his graduation. So, she stepped up and offered the young man a hug, and it’s clear that he greatly appreciated her kind and loving gesture.

The woman saw a need and acted without hesitation. She showed kindness and compassion for a young man, who almost certainly greatly appreciated it.

Kindness does not have to involve big, grand gestures. Often, little ones will suffice, and they are usually the most meaningful and appreciated.

Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind to one another, full of pity, having forgiveness for one another, even as God in Christ had forgiveness for you.”

Small Acts of Great Love | Your Nightly Prayer

Love doesn’t always arrive in grand gestures. Often, it shows up quietly—in a warm meal, a listening ear, or a small kindness offered at just the right moment. Tonight’s episode reflects on how seemingly simple acts, when done in love, can carry deep encouragement and remind others they are not alone. Scripture teaches that followers of Jesus are known by their love, expressed not only in words but in everyday deeds. Whether noticed or unseen, small acts done with compassion honor God, who Himself humbled His Son to serve and to give His life. This meditation invites you to see love as a daily posture—choosing to do everything in love, no matter how small the task may seem.

Main Takeaways

  • Discover how small, loving actions can bring great comfort and encouragement to others.

  • Learn why God values acts of love done quietly and without recognition.

  • Be reminded that serving in love reflects the heart of Jesus, who humbly gave Himself for us.

  • Reflect on how everyday opportunities—listening, helping, or showing kindness—can become powerful expressions of faith.

TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

"Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14

Your Evening Prayer

Compassionate and gracious God,

Thank You for showing me the greatest love through Jesus—love that served, humbled itself, and gave everything. Open my eyes to the small opportunities around me to love others in simple, sincere ways. Help me not to overlook what seems ordinary or unnoticed, but to serve faithfully from a heart shaped by Your compassion. Teach me to speak kind words, offer help freely, and sit with those who are hurting. May my everyday actions reflect Your love, and may I honor You by doing everything in love.

Amen.

God is Near to the Hurting | Your Nightly Prayer

Love often feels easiest when it gives something back—affirmation, comfort, or a sense of fulfillment. But Scripture points us to a deeper, truer kind of love: love that gives without counting the cost. Tonight’s episode reflects on how God defines love not by what we receive, but by what we are willing to give. From marriage and family to friendships and everyday relationships, we are invited to love sacrificially, following the example of Christ. Jesus showed us that real love lays itself down for the good of another. Though costly, this kind of love has the power to transform lives—including our own—because it flows from the heart of God.

When Love Feels Costly | Your Nightly Prayer

Love often feels easiest when it gives something back—affirmation, comfort, or a sense of fulfillment. But Scripture points us to a deeper, truer kind of love: love that gives without counting the cost. Tonight’s episode reflects on how God defines love not by what we receive, but by what we are willing to give. From marriage and family to friendships and everyday relationships, we are invited to love sacrificially, following the example of Christ. Jesus showed us that real love lays itself down for the good of another. Though costly, this kind of love has the power to transform lives—including our own—because it flows from the heart of God.

Main Takeaways

  • Discover how God’s definition of love centers on giving rather than receiving.
  • Reflect on why relationships change when we enter them with a mindset of sacrifice instead of expectation.
  • Learn how Jesus’ willingness to lay down His life reveals the highest expression of love.
  • Be encouraged that, through God’s strength, we can love others sacrificially even when it feels difficult or costly.

TONIGHT'S SCRIPTURE

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”—John 15:13

Your Evening Prayer

Father,

Thank You for showing us the true meaning of love through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus. When I am tempted to measure love by what I receive, reorient my heart toward giving as You have given. Help me rely on Your strength to love sacrificially—in my relationships, my family, and my friendships—especially when it feels costly. Remind me that I am loved beyond measure, redeemed by grace, and empowered to reflect that same love to others. Shape my heart to mirror the humility and obedience of Christ, and lead me to love as You love each day.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Prayer to Have the Humble Heart of Jesus

Pride is often subtle. It doesn’t always announce itself boldly. Sometimes it quietly whispers, “I deserve more.” More recognition. More comfort. More appreciation. More ease. Yet Scripture gently redirects our hearts. In Philippians 2, Paul calls us to do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but instead to value others above ourselves and adopt the mindset of Christ. The mindset of Jesus is humility. Jesus, though fully God, chose humility. He set aside comfort. He placed others before Himself. He lived for the glory of the Father, not His own recognition. He served. He sacrificed. He surrendered. Humility is a heart posture that says, “This life is not about me.” It recognizes that everything we have and everything we are is from God, through God, and for God. When pride creeps in—when we feel overlooked, underappreciated, or entitled—we are invited back to the cross. Back to the One who modeled perfect humility. Reflecting the heart of Jesus means choosing service over status, surrender over self-promotion, and obedience over applause. As we lower ourselves before Him, we actually draw closer to His heart. And in that place of humility, we honor the One who gave everything for us.

Five Second Rule

God doesn't go my the fine second rule. Just because no one saw you doesn't mean you're getting away with it. What we excuse in secret doesn't become clean. You still get dirty.

Letting Grace Define Your Story | Your Nightly Prayer

When we look at the heroes of the Bible, it’s easy to focus on their victories and forget their failures. But Scripture doesn’t hide their broken moments—it highlights them to show us the power of God’s grace. Tonight’s episode reminds us that God has always worked through imperfect people. Abraham, Moses, David, Peter, Paul—each failed in significant ways, yet none were disqualified from God’s purposes. Grace is not God overlooking sin; it is God redeeming sinners. Where failure feels final, grace tells a better story. This meditation invites you to stop letting your past define you and instead allow God’s restoring grace to shape your future.

A Prayer to Be Faithful and Obedient with Your Finances | Your Daily Prayer

Financial stress has a way of getting into everything—your sleep, your conversations, your sense of security, and even your peace with God. This devotional opens with an honest picture many people recognize: the cost of living rising, unexpected expenses piling up, and the uneasy feeling that no matter how hard you work or how carefully you plan, you’re still barely getting by. When budgets are tight and debt feels heavy, anxiety can hit fast with a single thought: How are we going to recover from this? What makes the situation even more discouraging is when you’ve tried to do the “right” things—avoiding unnecessary spending, saving where you can, and giving faithfully—yet still feel trapped. The devotional doesn’t shame that struggle. Instead, it reminds us that Scripture takes money seriously and speaks to it often, because finances reveal what we trust, what we fear, and what we serve. Philippians 4:19 offers a steady anchor: God promises to meet our needs according to His riches in Christ. That doesn’t mean believers are guaranteed wealth or a problem-free financial life. But it does mean we are not abandoned. God’s provision is real, and He invites us to live with open hands—using money as a tool rather than a master, practicing generosity with joy, and seeking wisdom to steward what He has entrusted to us. In seasons where money is tight, the devotional encourages a posture shift: from panic to prayer, from striving alone to seeking God’s discernment. Faithfulness isn’t just about giving; it’s about honoring God in the way we save, spend, plan, and respond under pressure. When we ask God to show us where to adjust, to build healthier habits, and to trust His care, we begin to experience His guidance and peace—often one practical step at a time.

A Prayer to Guard Your Heart | Your Daily Prayer

It’s easy to assume that being compassionate means carrying everyone else’s emotions as if they’re our own. When we love people deeply, we naturally want to help them through their struggles. We listen, we empathize, we pray, and sometimes we even absorb their fear, anxiety, and heaviness without realizing it. This devotional is a reminder that while God calls us to bear one another’s burdens, He doesn’t call us to be emotionally overtaken by everything happening around us. The world is full of brokenness, and people are often hurting—but we cannot control their circumstances or fix every problem. What we can control is how we respond and how we protect what’s happening inside of us. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us that our heart is the source from which everything flows. If our heart becomes polluted by negativity, bitterness, fear, or constant emotional overload, it becomes difficult to live with peace, wisdom, and spiritual strength. Guarding your heart doesn’t mean shutting people out. It means staying rooted in Christ while you walk with others through their pain. God can help you be compassionate without becoming consumed. When you keep Jesus at the center, your heart stays healthy soil—ready to bear good fruit, even in hard seasons.

A Prayer When You're Picked Last | Your Daily Prayer

Most of us know the sting of being picked last—whether it was on a playground team, in a social group, or even in life itself. It can leave you feeling overlooked, unworthy, or like you’re always trailing behind while others seem to move forward with ease. This devotional speaks directly to that ache and the grief that comes when healing, growth, or breakthrough feels delayed. The author reflects on childhood experiences of being physically overlooked, then connects that feeling to something deeper: the pain of silently struggling for years without understanding what was happening internally. When healing finally came later in life, it felt unfair—like time had been stolen and God had somehow skipped over them. But Scripture reminds us that God’s timing and positioning are never accidental. In Numbers 10, the tribe of Dan marched last—not because they were less important, but because they were assigned a crucial role. They served as the rear guard, protecting the rest of Israel from attacks that could come from behind. Their “last place” was actually a place of purpose, strength, and responsibility. Sometimes we assume being last means we are forgotten, when in reality, God may be placing us where we can protect, serve, or strengthen others in ways we don’t yet understand. The world equates being chosen last with being less valuable, but God’s kingdom turns that thinking upside down. God sees every season, every delay, and every hardship—and He never wastes any part of your story.

Why Customers Are More Than Happy to Wait in This Specific Line at a Publix

Many customers who frequent a Publix location are more than happy to wait in this specific line. The reason they do not mind waiting will bring a tear or two to your eye. Watch this short but powerful clip to hear what makes one checkout line at a Publix in Georgia so special.

Grocery shopping is one of the worst things humans must do with regularity. Shopping is already a horrible activity, but when it involves entering, looking for and purchasing items at a grocery store, it gets considerably worse. There is no such thing as a quick trip to the grocery store.

People, when they walk through those doors, seem to magically forget that others exist. And you know exactly what I am talking about. It never fails that someone will be standing right in front of whatever you need, carefully and thoroughly examining bottles of ketchup as if they’ve never seen the popular condiment before.

However, at a Publix in Acworth, Georgia, there doesn’t seem to be any of that typical stress and anxiety. Instead, customers will willingly wait 30-40 minutes in a specific checkout line. And why do the customers do this? It’s so they can interact with Michael Masterangelo.
Michael, who has an intellectual disability, loves and cheers on all of the customers who come through his line.

“I’m just so happy to be here every day to work,” Michael said.

And his unbridled happiness and joy are infectious, rubbing off on customers and co-workers alike. Michael’s mother says her son is a people person who is always happy and upbeat.

One customer said that whenever she comes into the store, she immediately looks to see if
Michael is working. She added that if he is, “it just changes everything.”

Michael doesn’t just brighten the lives of customers and his co-workers; his efforts and tremendous attitude are having a far-reaching impact.

Michael raised more than $31,000 in donations at his register for the Special Olympics.
“He raised more alone than certain districts in our region,” one Publix employee said.

What a wonderful young man. It’s clear that he was working at your local grocery store, grocery shopping would be a lot less terrible.

Hebrews 13:16 “But go on doing good and giving to others, because God is well-pleased with such offerings.”
