A Prayer to Be a Bold Witness for Christ

Many Christians want to share their faith but struggle with fear.

We worry about saying the wrong thing. We don’t want to offend someone. We fear rejection, awkwardness, or difficult questions. Yet God often places opportunities right in front of us if we’re willing to notice them.

Emily Rose Massey shares a story about an unexpected conversation at the beach. After another man attempted to talk about Jesus and was quickly dismissed, she felt God prompting her to lovingly continue the conversation. Despite some resistance, she was able to share the gospel and explain the hope she had found in Christ. That experience became a powerful reminder for both her and her children about the importance of being ready to talk about Jesus.

First Peter 3:15 challenges believers to always be prepared to explain the hope within them. Preparation comes through spending time in God’s Word, growing in our understanding of Scripture, and relying on the Holy Spirit for wisdom and courage.

At the same time, Scripture reminds us that sharing our faith should always be done with gentleness and respect. People are not arguments to win. They are souls deeply loved by God. When we approach conversations with humility and genuine care, we reflect the heart of Christ.

God is not asking us to be perfect evangelists. He is simply asking us to be available, faithful, and willing.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the hope I have in Jesus Christ. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, insecurity, or discomfort to keep me silent.

Help me recognize the opportunities You place before me each day to share Your love and truth. Give me wisdom to know what to say, courage to speak when prompted, and humility to speak with gentleness and respect.

Fill my heart with Your Word so that I am prepared to explain the hope I have found in You. Help me remember that it is Your Spirit who changes hearts, not my ability to say everything perfectly.

Use my life, my words, and my actions to point others to Jesus.

In His name,

Amen.
