Dr. Greg Seltz | Host of The Drive Home on 105.1 WAVA FM
Dr. Gregory P. Seltz is one of America's foremost Christian voices — a theologian, evangelist, broadcaster, and public theologian who has spent decades bringing biblical wisdom into the nation's cultural and civic conversations. Washington, D.C. listeners know him as the host of The Drive Home on WAVA, where he meets commuters and families each afternoon with clarity, conviction, and encouragement for everyday life.
Before joining WAVA, Dr. Seltz served as the Speaker of The Lutheran Hour®, one of the longest-running Christian radio programs in North America. From 2011 through his tenure as Speaker Emeritus, he delivered the Gospel weekly to more than one million listeners across 1,800+ stations and the American Forces Network. In that role, he served as preacher, evangelist, and global ambassador for Lutheran Hour Ministries, representing the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) and Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) in mission and outreach worldwide.
A gifted educator as well as broadcaster, Dr. Seltz spent more than a decade at Concordia University Irvine, where he directed the Cross-Cultural Ministry Center and taught as a Professor of Theology. There he trained over 75 pastors for urban ministry across America — helping launch congregations serving Vietnamese, Korean, Spanish-speaking, Indonesian, and African-American communities, among others. His passion has always been a church that crosses cultural borders with the Gospel.
His earlier ministry is equally wide-ranging. He served as Executive Director of Life's Journey Ministries in Manhattan, planted Church for All Nations (LCMS) — the first new Lutheran mission in New York City in over 40 years — and led mission work in Dallas and pastoral ministry in Tampa. Across every setting, Dr. Seltz has been known for building bridges, developing leaders, and bringing Christ into the public square.
A nationally sought-after speaker, Dr. Seltz addresses topics including Church and State, Public Theology, Christian citizenship, urban ministry, missions, and evangelism. His teaching consistently calls believers to live faithfully and courageously as citizens of both God's Kingdom and their country — a message that resonates deeply in the nation's capital.
Dr. Seltz holds a B.A. in New Testament–Biblical Languages from Concordia University Ann Arbor and earned his Master of Divinity, Master of Sacred Theology, and Ph.D. in Theology and Culture from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Concordia University Irvine awarded him an honorary Doctor of Divinity in recognition of his pioneering urban mission work. He and his wife, Marie Yvette, have one daughter, Devin.
Catch Dr. Greg Seltz weekday afternoons on The Drive Home from 4-6 pm — only on WAVA.
