God does not want us acting like victims—even in the slightest way. Give Him access in your life—to free you from every trace of a victim mentality. Then you will be free to pursue the truth about the authority we have in Christ.
It is amazing what you will find if you are determined to expose the victim within you—rather than determined to protect it. But let me warn you that the “victim” is the most protected species on the planet. You will get little support in trying to expose a victim mentality within yourself or anyone else. We protect our victims. We honor our victims. We even immortalize our victims.
Here’s my article on “mystical” practices both ancient and modern. It addresses things such as modern tongues, contemplative prayer and Word Faith claims. The article goes through many examples of scriptural prayer throughout the Bible and shows conclusively that we should not approach God searching for ecstasies. We should approach Him in prayer.
