Judah's two oldest sons were wicked and God killed them both before they were able to have any children. Then Judah puts his daughter in law in a bad position and ends up with a situation he never bargained for. His hypocrisy is quickly revealed but he does take responsibility and God redeems him. How hypocritical are we at times? Do you put things off that you should be doing or make excuses that aren't completely truthful? What do we do when we are confronted with our sin? Jacob didn't hide that Joseph was his favorite son. This made the rest of his sons very jealous. Then Joseph had 2 dreams that insinuated that he would one day rule over them all. That was more than his brothers could take! So when given the opportunity, they conspired to get rid of him. Jacob, Joseph, & the brothers all respond badly to their feelings. When we allow our feelings to rule, then they can grow & cause us to do horrible things. #Joseph #Jacob #feelings #thoughts #reactions #favoritism #discretion #jealousy #envy #hate #deceit

3  Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand. 
4  And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go. 
5  So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink. 
6  And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

Today we celebrate Ash Wednesday; a day that marks the beginning of our Lenten Journey. There may be some of us who have participated in the Season of Lent for many years, yet we wonder, “Why 40 days? Why fast? Isn’t going to Mass enough?”
I invite you to invest 10 minutes of your time to get answers to these questions and more as we go on a spiritual journey that offers us a “Spiritual Tune-Up” and ultimately leads us to that glorious Holy Thursday Passover Meal, where Jesus transforms ordinary bread and wine into His most precious Body and Blood. May God bless your Lenten Journey with a renewed commitment to follow Jesus as Lord and Savior.
