Helping your child focus on prayer through Easter and beyond is something that can give them solid ground in a shaky world. Easter is such a special time—what better way to help them flourish in their faith than to help them build a life of prayer? I hope this post can give you resources to help your child grow in prayer this Easter.
A Fun Way to Help Your Child Focus on Prayer
Easter is one of my favorite times of the year. I love celebrating Jesus and His resurrected life. I appreciate how—symbolic of Jesus’ rebirth—the whole earth breaks forth in life, budding fresh and new from a frozen world stripped bare.
Easter gives us an opportunity to pause and reflect on the life of Christ. I love making Easter baskets for my children and grandchildren each year. Yes, I do add in candy and small personalized gifts, but the focus of each gift basket is a special book or video for my kids. John and I love giving Bibles or wonderful Christian books. This year I’ll be buying Easter baskets for both my children and grandchildren.
Practicing a lifelong fellowship with the Lord through prayer is something I hope to foster in my children and grandchildren. That’s why I created the Mommy & Me Prayer Journal series!

These keepsake journals are great for little kids to write their prayers in… or draw them!
There is also a place for moms, dads, or someone special to add their prayers, too. It makes a lovely Easter basket gift, one that will be treasured for years to come. It’s available HERE on Amazon.

Prayer is Always the Answer
What can be more overwhelming than parenting? Not much! But thankfully we have one tool we can use for every parenting situation, and that’s prayer.
“There is nothing we face as a parent that God has not already thought of, and provided for, in His Word,” writes Jodie Berndt, author of Praying Scriptures for Your Kids. Jodie’s been praying for (and with!) her kids and encouraging others to do the same for decades.
Why should we pray?
- Prayer can free us from worry and fear in our parenting.
- Praying for our kids can also take some of the stress out of our parenting.
- Praying with our children helps them develop a healthy, life-long prayer life.
In this episode of Walk It Out, Jodie and I also talk about why it’s important to pray for our adult kids, even when they’re out of our homes. I know you’ll be encouraged by this podcast! Listen here: Walk It Out #151: Praying Scriptures for Your Children with Jodie Berndt
No matter how you fill your child’s Easter basket, I pray that your home is full of the life of Christ and the celebration of his resurrection!
