Classic margaritas
*makes 2*
Ingredients:
- 3oz silver tequila
- 3oz fresh squeezed lime juice (about 6 limes)
- 2oz Cointreau
A few notes on making this:
- Make sure your lime juice is fresh squeezed, and not the bottled stuff—it makes a huge difference in flavor.
- Have lots of ice on hand—these taste best very cold with lots of ice.
- You don’t have to salt your glass rims, but if you prefer salt, use a nice finishing salt or sea salt—not table or kosher.
Directions:
- Juice limes—you can use a hand juicer, but for a lot of limes, I love this automatic one.
- If desired, run the juiced lime half over the rims of two double old fashioned glasses and dip glasses in sea salt.
- Fill glasses with ice and place in freezer.
- Add tequila, lime juice and Cointreau to shaker filled with ice.
- Shake vigorously 30-40 times.
- Remove glasses from freezer and strain the shaken margaritas into glasses.
- Enjoy!
