An artist who gained national attention on American Idol and The Voice has a new album and a message for the body of Christ, shaped by years of waiting on God and learning to trust His timing. Jeremy Rosado first introduced himself to millions in 2012 as a soulful 19-year-old singer on American Idol—finishing 13th on Season 1—before competing in 2021 on The Voice, where he landed on Kelly Clarkson’s team. In the years between, he refined his craft, led worship in his local church, and—most importantly—stepped in as guardian to his niece, a role that shaped both his life and his music.

His new album is appropriately titled The Waiting Room, capturing the years he spent praying, growing, and learning to worship in the middle of uncertainty.

“The waiting season isn't forever,” Rosado told Crosswalk Headlines, citing lessons from his life he wants to share with fans. “There is another side to this thing. There's a point at which breakthrough happens. … There is a Hero that fights for them in that room at all times. He always has. He always will.

“There's always hope, there's always something to look forward to. His name is Jesus, and he makes ways for us.”

Rosado grew up in a Puerto Rican family in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Florida, where singing in church eventually led him to American Idol and opening for Andrea Bocelli before he stepped away from the limelight to raise his niece, who is now an adult.

“I've been raising her since I was 13. She was two years old, and so it was just me and my mom in our home, and my mom got custody … and that journey has been really hard and yet beautiful,” Rosado said. “But I remember being 13 and being like, ‘God, if you provide when I'm older … I'll be her dad, and I'll be there for her, and I'll make sure she never feels the pain she feels now, ever again in her life.’ … She's the best thing that's ever happened to me.”

Rosado’s new album is already making waves, with a single, Hero in the Room, amassing 1.8 million streams on Spotify and entering the Nov. 1 Billboard Christian Airplay chart at No. 39. The song, he said, was born from emotional and verbal abuse he endured as a child.

Each week, he said, he receives messages from fans explaining how it has helped them draw closer to God during difficult times.

“I've gone through so much healing, but I've watched millions of people—God used this song to help them heal.”

The song’s message is grounded in Scripture, he added: “The God who began the good thing in you can and will complete it.”
