When I was a teenager, I daydreamed about what it would be like to have someone special to care for and hold. Although I wouldn't admit it, every boy that caught my eye was a spectacle for examination. To this day, I am thankful that the Lord saved me from countless heartbreaks and held my heart until the right guy came along and pursued me first.
Responsibility was placed on women to “maintain purity” at all cost whereas men (and young men) received “get out of jail” cards of sorts. If any impropriety or physical relationship, or even lust, occurred between a man and a women then certainly the failure was on the part of the women. These long-term effects are just now being discussed and dissected within and outside of the church, meanwhile a whole generation of women have rationalized away sexual assaults and objectification.
Wait... do we really need to go to a building on a certain day for it to count as doing church? If so, isn’t that legalistic?
